Island Dreams

In my dreams I’m driving back and forth between this world and home, confused by the great distance and lack of time. Leah said over the phone that being away will make you know what home is.

Children in the school yard chased giant white seagulls and then disappeared in a few drops of rain, crying, “It’s pouring!” Everyone on the street knows me, I know no one. Everyone looks at me and all I see is them looking, not another human being.
