winter solstice night

full moon coming out of the storm clouds
river clouds the bridge speckled with bone
river lined with pieces of bog ice
& floating trees
the road some broken piece of animal
wanting to move again like rock
like cars above it
our anxieties shaking out over
the bridges & guard rails
the pond talking back to us
my mother saying I came from
the ocean and will go back there
