finding a salt lake in the canyon
road, swimming in it under
desert cloud light, speechless

salt lake on desert road
healed with its breathlessness
floating in canyon clouds

*
going to the cliffs
to hide from the train
in the walls

walks thru the playground
with bottles of mickey
breaking glass in the night

going to the cliffs
to hide from the train in the walls
going with my dog lucky

*
passing a redwhite&blue
guitar pick in jr.high school halls
got me falsely accused of selling acid

& a lecture from the butch cop about it
never leaves your system, flashbacks 30 years later
I’d never done it, but was compelled

to walk along the tracks on bridges
across the city, young black eyes exploding
talking like the train in the walls
